Glass Types

In addition to several common borosilicate, lead oxide, and soda-lime glasses, CHI carries a selection of special purpose glasses, including radiation-resistant, etchable, colored, dark, and scintillating formulations. Highly customized glasses can be developed in association with several glass suppliers, and we are also willing to work with customer-provided glasses, assuming that the physical properties are compatible with our draw process. We are unable to draw fused silica, because its softening temperature exceeds the temperature range of our draw ovens.
